Our Trust is in You

by Todd Shaffer | Arise, O Lord EP

Verse 1

We have heard with our ears, O God,
Our fathers told of what You have done—
The works of old, the mighty hand,
That drove out nations, gave us this land.

Verse 2
Not by the sword, not by their might,
But by Your hand, Your face, Your light.
You showed them favor, You made them stand,
Planted Your people by Your command.

Chorus

You are my King, O God,

Deliver Jacob by Your word.

Through You we push our foes aside,

Through Your great name they fall, they hide.

Verse 3

I will not trust in bow or blade,
Not by my strength are victories made.
But You have saved us, crushed our foes,
In God we boast—our refuge, our hope.

Chorus

Bridge
The light of Your face,
the strength of Your arm,
The favor You give, the shield from harm.
Forever we praise, forever we sing,
Our trust is in You, our God and King.

Sheep For Slaughter

by Todd Shaffer | Arise, O Lord EP

Prelude
Our trust is in You, our God and King.

Verse 1
But You have cast us off and brought us shame;
You no longer march with our armies.
You make us turn our backs to the foe,
While those who hate us take their spoil.

Verse 2
You give us like sheep to be slaughtered,
You scatter us among the nations.
You sell Your people for nothing at all,
As though we were worth no price.

Chorus
We are mocked and scorned by our neighbors,
Laughed at by the world around.
Our name is a curse among the nations,
Our shame is the song of the crowd.

Verse 3
All day long my disgrace is before me,
My face is covered in shame,
At the sound of the one who taunts and jeers,
At the sight of the enemy’s rage.

Bridge
All this has come, though we have not forgotten You;
We have not betrayed Your covenant.
Our hearts have not turned, nor our steps left Your way,
Yet You crush us down in the dust,
And cover us with the shadow of death.

Interlude
If we had forgotten the name of our God,
Or stretched out our hands to a foreign god,
Would You not search this out, O Lord?
For You know the secrets of the heart.

Final Cry
Yet for Your sake we are killed all the day long;
We are counted as sheep for the slaughter.

Arise, O Lord

by Todd Shaffer | Arise, O Lord EP

Opening
Awake… awake.
Why do You sleep?
O Lord… why do You sleep?

Verse 1
Arise, arise.
Cast us not off.
O Lord, cast us not off forever.

Verse 2
Why do You hide Your face?
Why forget our affliction?
Why do You not remember
,
Our oppression?

Chorus
For our soul is bowed down to the dust,

Our belly clings to the earth.

Arise, arise, we need Your help!

Redeem us, O Lord,
for Your mercy’s sake.

Bridge
Arise, arise,
We need Your help!
Redeem us, O Lord,
For Your mercy’s sake.
Arise, arise, we need Your help!
Redeem us for Your mercy’s sake.

Closing
Arise… arise…
Arise
